The singer’s solo album, *Ruby*, was released last year via her independent label Odd Atelier.

Jennie has unveiled a new solo single, “Less Than a Lover.” Available now through OddAtelier and Columbia Records, the track serves as a reflective take on summer memories, exploring the nuances of a connection that blurs the line between friendship and romance.

During her headlining performance at Governors Ball in New York City in June, Jennie first introduced “Less Than a Lover.” To complement the song’s atmospheric vibe, she also released a visually striking music video.

“The lyrics convey more than fleeting desire,” Jennie sings in the track. “It’s about finding something ‘less than a lover’—a bond that’s just enough for this summer moment, yet meaningful enough to cherish.” She repeats, “Need a little bit less than a lover / You get a little bit more than another.”

In March of last year, Jennie launched her solo career with *Ruby*, her debut EP featuring collaborations with artists such as Childish Gambino, Doechii, Dominic Fike, Dua Lipa, FKJ, and Kali Uchis. Since then, she has reunited with Blackpink for their world tour and the release of their recent album *Deadline*, which dropped in February and includes the lead single “Jump.”

Jennie will extend her summer performances as a headliner at Lollapalooza in Chicago later this month. She will also make her debut appearance at Japan’s Summer Sonic Festival in August.
