[NEW RAMS ALTERNATE UNIFORMS REVEALED: “CLASSIC SOL” AND “FEARSOME WHITE” HONOR TEAM LEGACY]
The NFL’s continued evolution in uniform design persists.
Some teams struggle to manage the growing array of helmet, jersey, and pants combinations. For the Rams, who introduced base uniforms in April (the controversial “drain plug” design was wisely discontinued), two alternate uniforms were added Thursday.
One alternate uniform, “Classic Sol,” features a yellow jersey and white pants, commemorating the team’s 1951 NFL Championship squad. The other, “Fearsome White,” honors the iconic “Fearsome Foursome” defensive line of Rosey Grier, Deacon Jones, Lamar Lundy, and Merlin Olsen. This uniform is entirely white, including the helmet logo, reflecting the dominance of that historic unit.
Additionally, the “Midnight Mode” uniform from last year’s “Rivalries” line, while arguably perplexing, offers fans another option for apparel purchases. The concern persists that Nike’s influence may lead teams to emulate Oregon-like frequent uniform changes. However, bypasses to the original concept remains unlikely, as the core team identity still anchors most major design choices.
