Following weeks of speculation surrounding his expiring deal, Jack Perry has officially recommitted to All Elite Wrestling, prompting a strong endorsement from Hall of Fame commentator Jim Ross.

Perry’s contract status had been a topic of discussion in recent weeks, with reports indicating his agreement was set to expire imminently. That uncertainty was resolved during a recent episode of Dynamite, which confirmed the former TNT Champion would remain with the promotion and pursue world championship gold.

Speaking on his podcast Grilling JR, Ross explained why retaining Perry was a crucial move for the company:

“It’s good that they’re keeping him. He’s still one of my favorite talents. Works hard. Understands that he’s got to continue to evolve his game, that’s imperative, so important.”

“I’m a Jungle Jack Perry fan. He’s a sweetheart of a kid, no doubt about that. Handsome little rascal, nice hair, I tell you that.”

“All’s good. That’s a good deal that they got him re-signed. I would have said that was a big priority signing before it happened, and now it’s happened, it just makes us all support him and look better.”

A founding member of the AEW roster since signing in early 2019, Perry debuted at Double or Nothing that May. He captured both the TNT and International Championships during his initial run before a backstage altercation with CM Punk in 2023 led to a suspension and a subsequent excursion to New Japan Pro-Wrestling. There, he reinvented himself as “The Scapegoat” and aligned with the House of Torture faction.

Perry Goes Global

Prior to his recent New Japan stint, Perry’s most extensive work outside AEW occurred during the promotion’s inaugural year in 2019, when he competed across the independent circuit. Since 2020, his focus has been almost exclusively on AEW programming, aside from a handful of matches on Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea cruise that year.

Perry made a rare independent appearance this past April at GCW’s Joey Janela’s Spring Break X, reuniting with former tag partner Marko Stunt for the first time since they opposed each other on Collision in July 2024.
