Backup guard Jose Alvarado sidestepped a backcourt violation by the slimmest of inches in the final 10 seconds, preserving control for the Knicks.

Following OG Anunoby’s crucial block on De’Aaron Fox’s lay‑up while the Knicks trailed 106‑105, Alvarado drove up the court only to be met by two Spurs defenders. They pushed him back toward half‑court, sending the ball across the line. Alvarado kept both feet above the floor as the Spurs fouled him with 5.7 seconds remaining, preventing a turnover that could have cost the team.

The play gave the Knicks a final possession, during which Anunoby tipped in Jalen Brunson’s missed shot with 2.1 seconds left, securing a 107‑106 win and a 3‑1 series lead.

Alvarado contributed eight points in 16 minutes, hitting two decisive three‑point shots that helped the rally.
