Josh Allen Defends New ‘Nickel City’ Uniforms Amid Mixed Reception

The Buffalo Bills introduced their new “Nickel City” alternate uniforms earlier this week, and the reaction has been, to say the least, largely unfavorable.

Quarterback Josh Allen grew weary of the criticism, addressing the topic unprompted during the final moments of his Wednesday press conference.

“And stop hating on the jerseysguys,” Allen remarked after concluding a response about the team’s mindset under new head coach Joe Brady and the forthcoming stadium.

Allen clarified that his comments were not directed specifically at the assembled media, but rather intended for the broader public regarding the uniforms and the team as a whole.

“I can’t tell if you’re actually criticizing them,” Allen said. “They’re excellent. To be honest, it’s a fresh look, and I get that. We need to embrace newness, and I’m eager to wear these jerseys.”

“A great many people put a lot of effort into creating these jerseys, and they represent a great deal of newness, which I’m excited about.”

When a reporter suggested Allen was taking the matter personally, he reiterated the overarching theme of the season for Buffalo.

“Listen, everyone—I’ve heard numerous remarks about the jerseys. I enjoy them,” Allen said. “They’re highly symbolic of our aspirations and the direction we want to take. I understand some fans miss the classic jerseys and helmets, and that’s understandable. However, at some point we must move forward, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”

That effectively served as Allen’s mic drop, as he rose from the podium and left the press conference.
