Justin Herbert and Brother Patrick Poised for NFL First in Chargers-Bills Matchup

The Herbert brothers are on the verge of creating NFL history today in Buffalo.

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert’s younger brother, tight end Patrick Herbert, has been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster, paving the way for them to play together against the Bills.

This reunion marks their first time as teammates since their college days at Oregon in 2019, where Patrick, as a freshman, saw limited action and Justin never threw him a pass.

At 25, Patrick is three years Justin’s junior. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Jaguars last year, spending the season on their practice squad, and stayed with them through the offseason.

Over six seasons at Oregon from 2019 to 2024, Patrick appeared in just two games as a freshman while Justin was leading the Ducks to a 12-2 record and a Rose Bowl victory. In his college career, Patrick recorded 31 receptions for 388 yards and four touchdowns.

Should Justin connect with Patrick during the game, it would represent the first instance in NFL history of a player passing to his brother.
