Kanye West Surprises Chicago Crowd with Star-Studded Guest Lineup at Homecoming Show

Ye, professionally known as Kanye West, returned to Chicago for his first hometown performance since 2021. Following a series of international cancellations, a UK ban, and controversies surrounding artificial intelligence in his latest album, Bully, this homecoming stood out as one of his most anticipated shows in recent years. The opening night at Soldier Field showcased a mix of classic hits and several high-profile guest appearances.

Notable guests included Big Sean, whom Ye signed to G.O.O.D. Music in 2007, though the two had since had a falling-out. The pair performed their 2012 collaboration “Clique,” followed by Big Sean’s solo hit “IDFWU.” They were later joined by 2 Chainz for “Mercy.” Future made an appearance towards the evening, delivering his tracks “Keep it Burnin’” and “Fuck Up Some Commas” alongside Ye.

Chicago locals were particularly thrilled when Ye brought out Twista, a Windy City legend who appeared on early hits from Ye’s catalog. Together, they performed their collaborations “Overnight Celebrity” from Twista’s 2004 album Kamikaze and “Slow Jamz” from The College Dropout.

Ye’s first U.S. concert in five years took place at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium in April, with subsequent performances in Tampa, San Antonio, and New Orleans marking his gradual return to domestic shows. However, several international dates on this tour—such as those in London, Marseille, Prague, and Chorzów, Poland—were canceled due to Ye’s history of antisemitic remarks.
