There is no official confirmation regarding Keith Lee’s current status, but industry insiders suggest he may have already completed his final match.
Lee, 41, remains under contract with AEW yet has not stepped into the ring since December 2023. After a severe injury forced him offline, he indicated in the summer of 2025 that his health had improved. Recent reports of his divorce from Mia Yim prompted commentator Bryan Alvarez to discuss Lee’s situation on Wrestling Observer Live. While Alvarez admits he does not possess definitive details, he notes that many within the wrestling community believe Lee is effectively finished as an active competitor.
Alvarez remarked, “Fans are constantly wondering about Keith Lee’s future. Will he ever return to AEW? Could we still see a showdown with Swerve Strickland? All I can say is that this topic has been widely discussed in recent days… I’m not stating this with absolute certainty, as I lack personal insight. However, conversations with industry sources lead me to believe Lee is done competing. Moreover, if he ever does leave AEW, it would likely be a permanent retirement rather than a move elsewhere.”
Yim has publicly stated that although she and Lee are no longer romantically involved, they remain friends and share mutual respect. Lee himself has avoided social media since September 2025, the same month he tweeted that he would “certainly” make an in‑ring comeback but was uncertain about the timing or method.
The latest assessment of Lee’s condition comes from Fightful Select, which reported in June that AEW had explored the possibility of his return “several months ago.” However, the report also indicated Lee has not been seen backstage at AEW events, and it remains unclear whether he was ever officially informed of such plans. As of now, no concrete developments have emerged.
Lee previously held the AEW Tag Team Championship alongside Swerve Strickland and also captured the NXT and PWG World Championships during his earlier career.
