Mexico’s musical landscape is currently defined by the strums of the requinto and the rising dominance of corridos tumbados, yet a vibrant pop renaissance is unfolding — with singer Kenia Os at the forefront. At 27, she embodies a dynamic blend of sugary vocals and infectious melodies, transitioning from a teenage beauty YouTuber in 2015 to a leading voice in Latin pop’s international expansion. “I bet on pop when it had minimal airplay, especially in Spanish,” she shares. “But it was always my passion.”

Her 2022 hit “Malas Decisiones” solidified her role in elevating Latin pop as a global phenomenon. Her latest album, K de Karma, released in March, explores themes of heartbreak and self-empowerment, featuring tracks like “Días Tristes” with Carla Morrison and the sensual anthem “Rojo Versace.” “I created this album reflecting on karma and my journey,” she explains. “Sometimes you need to give destiny a little push.”

A new era in progress

K DE KARMA arrived amid her high-profile relationship with música mexicana star Peso Pluma, which ended in June 2026. “This year brought chaos and lessons,” Kenia reflects. “Darkness doesn’t dim your light—it shapes it.” The album’s meaning has deepened for fans and herself, symbolizing resilience through personal upheaval.

Kenia navigates Mexico’s male-dominated music scene, collaborating with Peso Pluma on “Malas Mañas” to blend corrido influences with her pop style. She rejects manufactured female rivalries, emphasizing, “I don’t have enemies—Belinda, Carla, Danna are incredible artists.” She highlights gender disparities, noting male musicians often escape scrutiny for behaviors that face harsher criticism in women. “It’s unfair,” she states, advocating for equality in artistic expression.

Expanding beyond Mexico, Kenia is collaborating with electronic artist Anyma and planning a 2026 U.S. tour. “We’re crafting a new era—it’s still a rough draft!” she says, poised to redefine Latin pop’s global trajectory.
