Clark’s blistering opening spell powered Sussex to a strong start, launching three consecutive sixes off Matt Milnes and costing Tom Rogers’ second over 30 runs as the visitors rocketed to 92-0 in the powerplay. However, once Clark was dismissed trying to hit deep field, giving former Sussex off-spinner Bertie Foreman his first Spitfires wicket, Kent mounted a comeback through debutant Forrester, who delivered a career-best figures including a double wicket maiden.
James Coles contributed 28 off 26 balls and former Kent batsman Jack Leaning scored 30 off 25, attempting to restore momentum before Danny Lamb provided a late burst of 22 not out from 12 deliveries. Despite their efforts, the visitors fell just short of the 200-run target.
Kent efficiently managed the run rate throughout the chase, with openers Tawanda Muyeye (26 off 15) and Daniel Bell-Drummond (29 off 19) scoring rapidly. The partnership between Crawley and Sam Billings added 55 runs from 32 balls to keep the required rate under control.
Spitfires captain Billings (28 off 17) miscued Fynn Hudson-Prentice and was caught at backward square leg, but Forrester quickly steadied the innings with consecutive cover boundaries. Crawley then accelerated the attack, receiving a life on 42 after Tom Alsop’s misfield allowed him to reach long-on, before launching three sixes off Danny Lamb in a single over. Forrester sealed victory with a boundary off Tymal Mills, clinching the win with 10 balls to spare.
