The experienced forward gained international recognition last year following a dramatic stoppage-time winner against the USA in the Concacaf Nations League. The moment became iconic when he climbed onto a TV studio platform to celebrate with his idol, Thierry Henry.
Reflecting on that moment, Waterman noted, “He was there, and it came from my heart to go hug him and celebrate. It felt completely natural.”
His intense passion was also evident during the buildup to the match against England, where a heated disagreement with teammate Jose Luis Rodriguez required intervention from teammates. Despite the confrontation, head coach Thomas Christiansen downplayed the incident.
After a six-year absence from the international stage, Waterman has re-established himself as a consistent presence in the squad, currently vying with Jose Fajardo for a starting position.
Recently, Waterman featured in the starting lineup against Ghana and appeared as a substitute during the match against Croatia.
