PESHAWAR: On Thursday, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi mandated that the “Revamping of Secondary Care District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospitals” initiative be finished by the close of the current fiscal year, cautioning that any additional delays would be unacceptable.
He urged all concerned departments to intensify their efforts and guarantee the project’s on-schedule delivery.
Presiding over a review session at the Chief Minister’s House, the chief minister assessed the status of DHQ hospital upgrades across the province.
According to a communiqué from the chief minister’s secretariat, Afridi received a thorough briefing on the scheme, and the gathering evaluated current milestones, principal obstacles, and subsequent steps.
Warns further delay will not be tolerated
The chief minister instructed that facilities needing minimal renovation be fast-tracked for completion and activation, enabling citizens to benefit promptly from contemporary, high-standard medical care.
He directed officials to swiftly pinpoint and eliminate impediments to execution, emphasizing that unjustified holdups would not be permitted.
Afridi noted the initiative would face another evaluation in three months, stressing that demonstrable advancement must be evident before that assessment.
He highlighted that, concurrent with upgrading DHQ hospitals, rural health centers, and basic health units, the planned health city is essential and stands among the administration’s top priorities.
Afridi told authorities to accelerate the health city plan so it can enter its execution stage without delay.
The chief minister affirmed his administration is channeling significant funds into refurbishing and modernizing current hospitals while also pursuing strategic ventures like the health city to meet rising demand and deliver sustainable, quality healthcare.
He called for expedited completion of the Khyber Institute of Child Health and other active health projects, pledging full governmental backing.
Officials earlier reported that four PC-I proposals totaling Rs33.085 billion had been sanctioned to renovate 32 secondary care DHQ hospitals province-wide.
The forum also learned that procurement of modern medical gear valued at Rs2.55 billion is concluded, with items already dispatched to the hospitals.
