Actress and singer Kristen Bell delighted sports and Disney fans alike with an unexpected appearance at the Savannah Bananas game against the Indianapolis Clowns in Denver on Saturday. Known for voicing Princess Anna in Disney’s Frozen franchise, Bell took to the stands to perform a memorable musical mashup that brought together her iconic character’s theme with classic Broadway and film hits.
The surprise performance featured Bell singing “For the First Time in Forever” from Frozen, seamlessly blending with Derek Klena, a Tony-nominated performer who portrayed Fiyero Tigelaar in the Broadway production of Wicked, as he performed “Dancing Through Life.” The duo’s collaboration created what the Savannah Bananas team described on Instagram as “the mashup we never knew we needed,” incorporating “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” from Dirty Dancing, complete with the signature lift.
Derek Klena, who earned a Tony nomination for his role in Jagged Little Pill in 2017, has since appeared in several acclaimed Broadway productions including Moulin Rouge!, Sunset Boulevard, and Wicked. His involvement with the Savannah Bananas, a viral exhibition baseball team known for their entertaining performances, began in December when he was scouted by the team.
Bell’s surprise appearance followed her recent visit to D23 in Anaheim, where she joined Frozen co-stars Idina Menzel and Jonathan Groff to tease elements of the upcoming Frozen 3, scheduled for release on November 24, 2027. The Frozen franchise, which launched in 2013 with global success, continues to captivate audiences with its enduring popularity and cultural impact.
