Kurt Vile and Czarface’s Esoteric have finally teamed up. Earlier, Vile praised a Czarface/MF DOOM album as his Pitchfork “Perfect 10” pick, prompting Czarface to reply on Instagram, “KV!! Let’s get some music done!” Last night in Boston, Esoteric joined Vile on stage to rap over “Bassackwards” from his 2018 album Bottle It In.
Vile is currently touring in support of his latest release, Philadelphia’s Been Good To Me. Meanwhile, Czarface and Frankie Pulitzer (also known as Tom Hardy) are set to drop their collaborative album Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer next month. After meeting at the Royale venue, Vile and Esoteric delivered a performance that exceeded expectations. When will a recorded version surface?
In his Pitchfork interview, Vile noted, “The beauty of Czarface lies in their reverence for old‑school hip‑hop while continually pushing forward with fresh records and guest appearances from legends like MF DOOM, GZA, and many others. They blend nostalgic elements with futuristic vision.”
