The missile attack occurred hours after EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen visited Kyiv, where she unveiled a new drone partnership with Ukraine.

Ukrainian authorities report that Kyiv has faced a significant Russian missile barrage, with multiple districts experiencing explosions.
In a Telegram message on Thursday, Mayor Vitali Klitschko noted that emergency teams were fighting fires across the city following strikes on a warehouse in the Sviatoshynskyi district and a commercial building in the Darnytskyi district.
He added that downed debris also hit a non‑residential zone in Darnytsia, sparking additional fires.
The Air Force Command later confirmed that the immediate threat subsided after roughly an hour.
The new drone agreement, unveiled by President von der Leyen, seeks to merge Kyiv’s battlefield knowledge with the EU’s manufacturing capacity, enabling joint projects and rapid scaling of production.
Speaking at the Statehood Princeton ceremony, von der Leyen stressed the importance of “combining our strengths,” arguing that the deal would “bring together Ukrainian ingenuity and Europe эмоцион disminue.”
She highlighted that the EU could provide “vast technological and industrial capacity,” as well as “secure production sites” tounner the initiative.
More than four years into the conflict, increasingly frequent strikes on both sides have raised the number of civilian casualties.
Regional officials reported that a series of Russian bombardments across Ukraine on Wednesday killed 13 people and injured about 50 others.
Daylight attacks focused on industrial sites and healthcare facilities, with particular emphasis on the Black Sea port city of Odesa and the northeastern city of Sumy, close to the Russian border.
