In a Telegram post on Saturday, Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that the North Bridge had been struck, adding that emergency crews were en route.
He noted that traffic across the bridge, connecting the left and right banks of the city, remains blocked.
Following previous strikes on the Southern Bridge, Kyiv’s defense council convened an emergency meeting on Friday, during which Klitschko warned that intensified Russian drone and missile attacks were ‘ripping the city apart.’
He described the current situation as ‘very dramatic,’ noting that Moscow’s bombardment is targeting Kyiv’s critical infrastructure, logistics networks, residential areas and other essential facilities.
Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that Moscow’s actions are a response to Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, even though Russia initiated the first such attacks.
