During the annual Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Tuesday evening, a heartfelt tribute was held for NASCAR legend Kyle Busch, who passed away suddenly on May 21st, shortly before the 67th Coca-Cola 600.
The two‑time Cup Series champion, celebrated for 234 victories across NASCAR’s premier divisions — the most in series history — has been honored in numerous memorials. Even after Denny Hamlin matched his win total last weekend with a special flag tribute, Busch still holds the record for the most wins among O’Reilly and Truck Series drivers.
In the 2025 Summer Shootout’s Master’s Division, Kyle Busch secured seven victories, culminating with the event’s tenth and final race.
Earlier today, Kyle Busch’s 11‑year‑old son Brexton waved both the green and checkered flags during a ceremonial lap that featured his father’s No. 51 Legends car at the front of the field. Tom Busch, Kyle’s father, took the wheel, and after the rest of the field fell back, he completed the lap solo.
Brexton is also participating in the current Summer Shootout, advancing his racing career just weeks after his father’s passing. Kyle’s brother and 2004 Cup champion Kurt Busch has shared videos from the track, cheering on Brexton as he readies for his upcoming races.
