Jennifer Finch, former bassist of the 1990s grunge band L7, is receiving treatment for brain cancer. Unexpected complications have necessitated multiple surgeries, leading to physical limitations, according to a press release from the band. A GoFundMe page has been established to support her medical costs and home care.
L7 vocalist and guitarist Donita Sparks expressed the band’s devastation and solidarity, stating, “Jennifer is family, and we want her to feel the full strength of the community that has loved and supported her for so many years.”
In 2019, L7 returned with Scatter the Rats, their first album since 1999’s Slap-Happy. The group marked their 40th anniversary last year with a concert at the Belasco in Los Angeles. Finch will not participate in the initial North American leg of the band’s “Last Hurrah” farewell tour scheduled for the fall, though she has reportedly urged the band to continue performing without her.
