Lancashire’s hopes of reaching the final were reinforced by a decisive seven‑wicket win at Chester‑le‑Street, their second victory in six games. Durham, meanwhile, suffered a fourth defeat in six matches, leaving them level on eight points with Lancashire and at the bottom of the North Group.
Livingstone delivered a sensational innings, unbeaten on 85 from just 31 balls, including eight sixes. The striker’s four consecutive sixes against Kasey Aldridge’s seam deliveries were a highlight of the match.
Durham’s openers, Graham Clark (49 not out) and Alex Lees (42), set a solid foundation as the home side posted 128‑2 from their 10 overs. England’s limited‑overs paceman Luke Wood bowled an economical spell of 1‑16 from two overs.
After a delay of nearly two hours that pushed the start time to 20:25 BST, Lees began the innings strongly, taking two wickets in the first over and adding several boundaries.
When Livingstone took a bowler’s attack to the batters, Durham’s score stalled at 94 by the eighth over. Clark, however, smacked Tom Aspinwall for a boundary, helping the hosts finish with a respectable total.
In the chase, skipper Keaton Jennings and Ben McDermott were dismissed early. Livingstone then struck a six off Matthew Potts, and Michael Jones added 27 from 15 balls before the game was won with five balls remaining.
Livingstone’s recent form, which included scores of 44 and 81 in his previous two matches, culminated in him breaking the Lancashire T20 record for most sixes—167 in total—surpassing the former record held by coach Steven Croft.
