The Eagles welcomed left guard Landon Dickerson back to the lineup for Monday night’s matchup against the Cowboys, but his return failed to halt the team’s five-game losing streak.
Dallas outscored Philadelphia 28-7 over the final 43 minutes to secure a 38-21 victory. The Eagles’ last genuine opportunity came when trailing by 10 with just over six minutes remaining, but pass protection collapsed on the first two snaps. Cowboys defensive tackle Quinnen Williams recorded a sack on the second play, forcing a turnover on downs. Dallas then sealed the win.
Dickerson was beaten on the Williams sack and was highly self-critical after the game. He stated that “two plays at the end there f—king lose us the game” and expressed pain at feeling he “let your guys down.”
“I didn’t perform well enough,” Dickerson said, via NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com. “These guys work their ass off to come in here and compete every day. I wasn’t good enough.”
Dickerson said he felt physically fine in his return from a knee injury, and the Eagles found early success running behind him. However, Saquon Barkley’s injury forced a shift away from the run game once Dallas took the lead. While defensive breakdowns contributed more to the outcome than his play, Dickerson remained negative in his self-assessment of his first game back.
