Charles Leclerc stated he requires “additional checks” after his Italian Grand Prix crash to confirm his fitness for next weekend’s Formula 1 round in Madrid.
Leclerc lost control of his Ferrari SF-26 at high speed through Parabolica on lap two, striking the wall forcefully and triggering a red flag.
The Monegasque driver was transported to the medical centre but released after no injuries were detected.
“My neck was fine; it was just my vision initially,” Leclerc explained. “My right eye wasn’t providing clear sight at first, but that’s now resolved—that was my primary concern when I got out of the car.”
“After that, some soreness here and there is normal after a crash like this, so nothing more serious.”

Nevertheless, the 28-year-old did not walk away entirely unharmed.
“I expect to undergo quite a few additional checks tonight and tomorrow to ensure I’m fully fit for Madrid,” he added. “It should be fine, but better safe than sorry.”
Regarding the cause of the incident, Leclerc cited “a difference in power delivery” but stressed he preferred to review the data before drawing conclusions. He also acknowledged his disappointment.
“It’s very frustrating, but that’s the situation now—I can’t change the results. I need to look ahead and hopefully recover in Madrid,” the Ferrari driver concluded.
