Leeds are advancing strongly to pick up one of the World Cup’s breakout young players for a hefty fee.
Leeds United’s most significant summer signing so far was the free transfer of Harry Wilson, but the club is now on the verge of securing a much costlier target.
According to MOTLeeds, Tarik Muharemovic is nearing a £34 million transfer to Leeds. The fee will be split equally between his current club Sassuolo and Juventus, who retain a portion of the player’s rights.
The young centre‑back showcased his talent for Bosnia at the World Cup and is poised to be one of this summer’s marquee signings. While Sunderland and Bournemouth have also been linked, Leeds appear to have advanced the furthest in securing his services.
Shea Charles wanted by Leeds despite big bids for Bosnia man
The report notes that a potential deal for Muharemovic will not hinder Leeds’ long‑standing interest in Southampton midfielder Shea Charles.
Leeds are prepared to bid up to £30 million for the midfielder, and financial flexibility remains, allowing them to pursue both signings should both clubs accept offers. The recent sale of Pascal Struijk to Brighton has generated funds that will support further squad reshaping.
Securing both targets would leave Leeds looking like a compelling prospect for the upcoming season.

Newcastle have finalised a deal for a Fiorentina full‑back, who is available at a bargain price this summer.
There are suggestions that Trevoh Chalobah and Maxence Lacroix could swap clubs this summer, with rumours circulating about both moving in opposite directions.
