Liam Payne’s 9-year-old son Bear has been designated the sole heir to the late singer’s $29 million estate, according to documents obtained by People.

Payne, who died in October 2024 without creating a will, shared custody of Bear with his former partner and singer Cheryl. She was appointed administrator of the estate alongside music industry lawyer Richard Bray in May 2025. At that time, U.K. records cited by Rolling Stone indicated the estate’s gross value was £28,594,888 (approximately $38 million), with a net value of £24,279,728 ($32 million) after debts and administrative costs.

UK government guidelines state that when an individual dies intestate, the closest living relative—typically a spouse or civil partner—followed by adult children, may apply to administer the estate. As per People, portions of the estate will be accessible immediately, while the majority will be held in a trust until Bear reaches the age of 18.

Cheryl and Payne, who began dating in 2016 when he was 23 and she was 33, welcomed Bear in March 2017. At the time, Payne posted on social media holding the newborn, stating, “I’m incredibly happy to welcome our new baby boy into the world, it’s a moment that I will never forget for the rest of my life and my favourite memory I have so far.” He added, “I’m completely in awe of his incredible mother and how she has been the whole way through this, she’s really made my dreams come true.”
