Liverpool have emerged as frontrunners to sign Brentford right-back Michael Kayode, edging out Arsenal in the race ahead of the winter transfer window.
The Italian defender has been a cornerstone of Brentford’s campaign over the last 18 months, and a move to a larger stage appears increasingly imminent.
Liverpool have been closely tracking his development at the west London club and view him as a priority target to strengthen their right-back options.
The Merseyside club holds a lead over Arsenal in the pursuit and could launch a formal bid either in January or next summer.
Brentford are unlikely to consider mid-season bids for the former Fiorentina defender, though they may reassess his availability at the end of the season.
The west London club is expected to demand a substantial fee, with reports suggesting a minimum of £51m would be required to sanction a sale.
Kayode remains committed to Brentford for now, but his ambitions are set on Champions League football while he is still in his prime.
