Liverpool expressed strong interest in securing Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh during the recent summer transfer window.
However, a deal failed to materialise. According to Football Insider, the Reds remain keen on acquiring the 22-year-old forward in January and are likely to revisit their pursuit of the Gambian international in the coming months.
Minteh Back on Liverpool’s Radar
Pete O’Rourke commented: “Liverpool will be assessing several targets in January if they intend to bring in a new right-sided attacker to fill the void left by Mohamed Salah. I’m confident they’ll be monitoring Yankuba Minteh’s situation at Brighton closely, having previously had a couple of bids rejected for him.
“A great deal will hinge on what Liverpool do between now and January. If Barcola arrives and makes an immediate impact, or if they find an internal solution for that right-wing position, whether through Cody Gakpo or Victor Munoz, then they may not need to pursue an external right-sided attacker.”
Liverpool brought in Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz during the summer transfer window. However, they could still benefit from additional depth in their attacking options, and a move for Minteh might prove to be a shrewd acquisition. With Mohamed Salah’s departure leaving a gap on the right flank, the Brighton forward could be an ideal candidate to fill that role.
His pace, creativity, and ability to unlock defences would provide a significant boost in the final third. The prospect of representing Liverpool would also represent an exciting opportunity for the young attacker.
Minteh is currently sidelined with an injury but is expected to return to action in the coming months. It remains uncertain whether he can regain his previous form and confidence in time to secure a January switch to Anfield.
Minteh Could Address Liverpool’s Right-Wing Concerns
Brighton will be reluctant to part with such a key player midway through the campaign. Liverpool may need to meet a significant asking price to finalise a transfer. Reports suggest the Reds have already struggled to land the player despite submitting substantial offers, and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can reach an agreement in January.
Liverpool are in clear need of a right-sided attacker following Mohamed Salah’s exit, and Minteh could deliver the pace, directness, and unpredictability required to strengthen their attacking threat in the final third.
