Liverpool Set to Secure Bradley Barcola from PSG in Deal Valued at $116 Million

Liverpool are finally set to sign Bradley Barcola from PSG, bringing an end to one of the longest-running transfer sagas of the summer window, according to David Ornstein. Barcola, who joined the French giants from Lyon in the summer 2023 for around $50 million and helped win two consecutive Champions League titles under Luis Enrique, emerged as a top transfer target for Liverpool despite the high initial asking price from Paris.

Liverpool appointed Andoni Iraola as head coach after Arne Slot departed in the summer, ushering in a new era for the club. PSG secured the fee they demanded following the acquisitions of Mika Godts from Ajax for $50 million, Ferran Torres from Barcelona for $55 million, and Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco for $60 million. Multiple sources indicate the Barcola transfer totals roughly $163 million, with a guaranteed minimum of $116 million.

When asked about the transfer ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Nottingham Forest, Iraola offered his thoughts.

“As you know, we are trying to sign in that position. Also, as you know, we cannot talk about players that, right now, are not ours. But it’s a position we are trying to improve or trying to fill, because we don’t have the numbers. I hope we can have good news soon, but we’re still not there,” he said.

Barcola will also rank as Liverpool’s second‑most expensive acquisition ever, trailing only the $150 million signing of Alexander Isak from Newcastle in summer 2025. A regular for France under Didier Deschamps, he featured prominently at the 2026 World Cup, where Les Bleus fell to Spain in the semi‑finals and he netted three goals. Under Iraola, Barcola is expected to become a central figure as Liverpool seeks a long‑term successor to Mohamed Salah, who left for Turkish club Trabzonspor on a free transfer after his Anfield contract ended.
