Lola Young Joins Reading 2026 Surprise Lineup for Closing Set

Lola Young has been announced as the surprise act for the closing afternoon of Reading 2026 today (Sunday August 30).

Joining other surprise performers Jamie T and Royal Blood who appeared on Friday, Young’s addition comes ahead of her main stage performance at The Grid at 3:15pm today. These surprise acts will only perform at the Reading site, not at the sister event in Leeds.

This marks Young’s debut at Reading & Leeds, representing one of her first major UK festival appearances since returning to live performance. The London artist had to cancel her 2025 tour due to exhaustion after collapsing on stage in New York City, later sharing her journey through addiction recovery and attending AA meetings.

In an interview with NME earlier this spring, Young reflected on her recovery journey, stating, “All healing journeys are never ending” but expressing that she’s “definitely in a much better place” and feels “excited and ready to perform and to release music” again.

Regarding fan support during her personal struggles, she noted: “My fans inspire me in the same way I hope to inspire them. I feel like I’ve never tried to be especially honest… it just comes very naturally to me.”

“I don’t really have any other choice but to be honest, so if people connect to that, and that’s amazing.”

Jamie T kicked off The Grid on Friday with a surprise midday set featuring indie classics and previews of his new album ‘Ghosts (100 Days Of Morning)’.

Royal Blood followed later that afternoon with a high-energy 2pm performance in The Gallery tent, delivering fan favorites and tracks from their latest album ‘Ten Over Ten’.

Reading 2026 wraps today with performances from Florence & The Machine, Chase & Status, Kneecap, Westside Cowboy, Violet Grohl and additional acts.
