Olivia Rodrigo Unites Music Legends Stevie Nicks, Sarah McLachlan, and Alanis Morissette for Daisy Chain Magic

Olivia Rodrigo brought her headlining Daisy Chain Fields set to a spectacular close, delivering an unforgettable night by recruiting her musical heroes—Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morissette, and Stevie Nicks—to the stage at Irvine, California’s Great Park on Saturday night.

Rodrigo’s vibrant all-women festival, which donated $10 million to nonprofits benefiting women and girls, drew direct inspiration from the iconic late-Nineties traveling festival Lilith Fair. Founded by Sarah McLachlan, Lilith Fair paved the way, making McLachlan’s presence at Daisy Chain deeply symbolic. The two icons kicked off their duet with McLachlan’s “Building a Mystery,” followed by a heartfelt rendition of her hit “Angel,” dedicated to the late country legend Dolly Parton, who passed away on August 25 at the age of 80. McLachlan paid tribute to Parton during the performance, calling her “the O.G. matriarch, beautiful goddess,” and “the biggest philanthropist” of country music.

Next, Rodrigo welcomed Alanis Morissette to the stage, stepping in as a replacement for Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, who had to withdraw from the festival. Together, they unleashed a powerful, scorching performance of “Ironic,” the standout track from Morissette’s 1995 masterpiece *Jagged Little Pill*. The duo had previously shared the stage in May 2022 at the Greek Theatre in L.A. during Rodrigo’s *Sour* tour, performing “You Outta Know,” and their reunion tonight was filled with pure, visible joy.

Rodrigo and Morissette first crossed paths in 2021, when they graced the cover of *Rolling Stone* for the annual Musicians on Musicians issue. Rodrigo recalled her childhood inspiration, telling Morissette, “I remember having my mind blown when I was 13. I was in the car with my parents listening to *Jagged Little Pill*. I remember hearing ‘Perfect,’ and I was like, ‘Oh, my God.’ I told my music teacher a couple days after: ‘You can write songs like that?’ I just looked at music and songwriting in a completely different way.”

The highlight of the evening came when Olivia Rodrigo invited the legendary Stevie Nicks, the “Gold Dust Woman” herself, to the stage. Together, they enchanted the audience with a beautiful rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide,” trading verses and dancing gracefully across the stage. Nicks warmly addressed the crowd, saying of Rodrigo, “She reminds me of me, when I was her age a hundred years ago. And I’m somewhat awestruck that she could do all this. Because it’s so hard, you have no idea, putting this together with all of these people. And she’s done it, with this grace.”

In a recent interview with *Good Morning America*’s Diane Sawyer, Rodrigo hinted that “Landslide” might be a possibility at Saturday’s show. The Fleetwood Mac classic has long been on her mind: in her October 2023 *Rolling Stone* cover story, she reflected on what it would be like to play her massive breakout hit “Drivers License” decades into her career. “I was thinking about that the other day,” Rodrigo shared. “I saw Stevie Nicks singing ‘Landslide’ to this huge stadium of people. Not that ‘Drivers License’ is ‘Landslide,’ by any means. But I was like, ‘Damn.’ That heartbreak that you feel when you’re young, thinking about singing that song when I’m Stevie Nicks’ age … it’s really powerful.”

Throughout the set, Rodrigo treated fans to a robust catalog of her own hits, showcasing tracks from her latest album, *You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love*, and debuting the newly released single “Serena Joy.” She also cranked up the energy with fan-favorite classics from *Sour* and *Guts*, including “Bad Idea Right?,” “Good 4 U,” and the career-defining hit “Drivers License.” “I feel like I’m dreaming,” Rodrigo confessed to the roaring crowd. “This is the best day of my fuckin’ life!”
