London heavyweight Riakporhe challenges Johnny Fisher for the British heavyweight belt

Richard Riakporhe has extended an offer to Johnny Fisher, proposing a showdown for the British heavyweight championship.

However, Fisher must first defeat Michael Pirotton, as the ‘Romford Bull’ headlines the Saturday night heavyweight clash at London’s Copper Box Arena, broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Riakporhe, who has previously challenged for a world title at cruiserweight, moved up to the heavyweight division last year and made an immediate impact. Most recently he dominated Jeamie TKV, halting the bout in just five rounds to claim the British heavyweight title.

The London fighter is looking beyond this triumph, eyeing a world title bout, but is keen to defend his newly won British belt against Fisher first.

“It would be good. I like Fisher. I remember after my match I actually offered them the opportunity to fight if they want,” Riakporhe told Sky Sports.

“Why not give them the opportunity? He’s very respectful, likeable, and a big puncher himself as well—a strong guy, like an ox. So it would be good for the fans to see.”

“I’m seen as a dangerous guy, top 10 in the world, [but] who knows? I’m actually a fan of Johnny Fisher as well as the Bosh family. I’ll be watching and cheering him on at the weekend.”

He also believes he is destined for the top of the division.

“I’ve got my own plans and see myself competing at a higher level as well. But who knows? I’m always in the game to make a buck and to fight people that definitely want to fight. It’s all about giving the fans what they want,” Riakporhe said.

“Once you give the fans value for their money and show them what they want to see, you’re always going to be in their good books, and they deserve it.”

“They deserve to be entertained.”

Ultimately, Riakporhe aims to challenge one of the current heavyweight champions.

“I want one of those titles. I’m looking at the Wardley vs Dubois fight, as well as what Kabayel and Hrgovic are doing. I’m training to compete for one of those belts. My eyes are locked on whatever will help me capture a title,” Riakporhe said.

“I know who I am and what I’m capable of,” he added.

“I just focus on getting the job done. I’m definitely arguably one of the heaviest hitters in the world. That’s a fact.”
