LoveShackFancy Redefines Elegance for Resort 2027
“Holiday, as you can see, goes very ‘Fancy,’” remarked Rebecca Hessel Cohen, gesturing toward a curated selection of beaded minidresses, gilded denim, and shimmering sequined gowns within the brand’s Fifth Avenue showroom in New York. For the new season, Hessel Cohen has unveiled a versatile collection that traverses a wide aesthetic spectrum, ranging from the rustic charm of the British countryside during Thanksgiving to the whimsy of a Nutcracker performance and the ethereal allure of an “aquatic mermaid dream.”
Nostalgia served as a primary catalyst for the collection, with Hessel Cohen drawing inspiration from childhood memories of watching her mother prepare for evening events. This influence is evident in the 1990s-inspired silhouettes, such as a green-and-red plaid skirt enhanced by the brand’s signature touch with crystal-lined pockets. While the label’s iconic pink hues remain a staple, Hessel Cohen is diversifying the color story this season. “We have leaned heavily into reds and greens, colors we largely avoided just a few years ago,” she noted.
The introduction of gray marks another strategic shift, appearing in a brushed cashmere coat with a faux-fur collar, a lace-trimmed pleated miniskirt, and a delicate pointelle tank dress. As LoveShackFancy expands its global footprint to 32 stores—spanning from Dubai to Atlanta—Hessel Cohen aims to broaden the brand’s demographic appeal. While the aesthetic has traditionally resonated with a younger, preppy crowd, she envisions the brand appealing to a diverse range of clients, from infants to mature women. The adoption of gray reflects this personal and professional evolution. “I find it feels more elevated as I get older; I am expanding my own palette toward more mature tones,” she explained, adding that the shift creates a look that is both “seasonless and ageless.”
