Malawi Police Launch Investigation Into Abduction of British Citizen

Malawi police are investigating the kidnapping of a British national seized in Blantyre, the country’s largest city.

Nusrat Osman, 47, was taken at about 12:30 local time on Friday by four men traveling in a grey Nissan Dualis, according to a police statement.

Authorities have posted a reward of over $17,000 (£12,600) for credible information that could help locate the mother of two and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Osman was employed by a local auditing firm at the time of her abduction.

A Malawian news outlet reported that her husband expressed deep anguish over her disappearance.

“I don’t know where she is or how she is. My wife works as an auditor and I have no disputes with anyone,” he told the Nyasa Times.

Police said the motive for the abduction remains unclear and that, so far, the kidnappers have not contacted Osman’s family or the authorities.
