KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — Malaysia needs to not only adopt emerging technologies but also solidify its market foundations, enhance operational efficiency, and expand access to capital in order to maintain competitive, resilient, and forward-looking financial and capital markets, according to Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.
He emphasized that robust cooperation among regulators, financial institutions, market infrastructure providers, institutional investors, government-linked investment companies (GLICs), asset managers, and corporations demonstrates a unified dedication to advancing Malaysia’s financial landscape.
“The participation of key financial sector players sends a strong message of confidence in our markets and reinforces our shared vision of building a modern, agile, and future-ready financial ecosystem,” he stated during his keynote speech at an event hosted by CIMB Group Holdings Bhd.
The event marked the launch of Malaysia’s first tokenised deposit settlement for tokenised sukuk by CIMB.
It also included a panel discussion titled “Beyond Digitalisation – How Will Malaysia Win?”, examining the nation’s potential and strengths within an evolving digital financial environment. — Bernama
