Roy Keane Calls Manchester United a Circus After Martinez’s Criticism

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane says the club are “like a circus” after defender Lisandro Martinez’s criticism of the hierarchy。

The comment followed United’s 2‑0 loss to Atlético Madrid in the Champions League, extending their winless streak to five games.

Lisandro Martínez criticized Manchester United for not strengthening the squad in the summer window after winning a qualifying spot in the Champions League, demanding greater investment and pointing to technical director Jason Wilcox.

During a conversation on The Overlap, external podcast, Keane noted that Martínez’s remarks encapsulated the club’s current state.

“Some fans may hail the criticism as praise, while others argue it reflects a team in difficulty, especially given Martínez’s inconsistent form at a crucial moment,” Keane remarked.

“If this is a true measure of the club, the atmosphere reads entirely like a circus,” Keane added.

Martínez said on social media on Wednesday that the outburst was motivated by “anger and frustration.”
