Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said the club remains confident in proving its innocence, following media reports that it had been found guilty of 114 breaches of Premier League financial rules in an ongoing case.

In an open letter to supporters on Saturday, Al Mubarak stated that the process is far from concluded and that City’s confidence in demonstrating its innocence remains as strong as when the matter first arose.

As I told my family: The Premier League process still has a long way to go, and our resolve and intention to prove the club’s innocence remain unchanged from the outset.

City, which has consistently denied any wrongdoing, is expected to appeal the independent panel’s decision in a case that has loomed over English football for years.

A guilty verdict would be one of the most consequential decisions in the sport’s history, raising significant questions about financial regulation, competitive integrity, and the league’s capacity to enforce its rules against one of its most successful clubs.

Al Mubarak noted that he is limited in what he can disclose about the case due to the strict confidentiality of the legal process.

He added that this letter underwent multiple legal reviews to ensure compliance.

The February 2023 statement expressed the club’s surprise at the alleged breaches, “especially given the extensive engagement and large volume of detailed materials that the Premier League has provided.”

City reiterated this statement on Friday.

The Premier League declined to comment.

A spokesperson said, “It’s a confidential process, and we are not commenting at all.”

Al Mubarak requested patience from supporters.
