Manchester United and Tottenham have escalated their pursuit of Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi, deploying scouts to observe the highly-rated forward during Champions League action. The 22-year-old has established himself as one of Europe’s most intriguing young attacking talents following a standout spell in Belgium.
Both Premier League clubs are currently collecting intelligence regarding a potential 2027 transfer, though neither has initiated formal negotiations with Club Brugge as of yet.
Man United and Spurs send scouts to watch Tresoldi
According to TEAMtalk, representatives from both Manchester United and Tottenham were present in Belgium on Tuesday to observe Tresoldi during Club Brugge’s 3-2 Champions League defeat to Aston Villa.
Despite the defeat, Tresoldi made a significant contribution by converting a second-half penalty.
United view the Italian striker as a potential long-term attacking solution, particularly given the uncertainty surrounding Joshua Zirkzee’s future at Old Trafford. Zirkzee attracted interest from Juventus, Fiorentina, and Everton during the summer transfer window and could depart either this January or next summer if playing time remains limited.
Tottenham are also monitoring Tresoldi’s progress as Roberto De Zerbi continues restructuring his forward line.
Tresoldi’s statistics explain the growing interest. He finished as the Belgian Pro League’s top scorer last season with 19 goals, having developed rapidly since joining Club Brugge from Hannover 96 in 2025.
His valuation has consequently risen dramatically. Club Brugge are believed to be seeking approximately €45m-€50m (£39m-£43m) for the player, who is contracted until 2029.
Tresoldi Aligns with United’s New Recruitment Strategy
For Manchester United in particular, this represents a sensible player to monitor.
Tresoldi remains young enough to develop substantially while already having demonstrated consistent scoring ability at senior level. Standing at 6ft tall, he offers solid physical presence while possessing the movement and technical ability required to link effectively with attacking midfielders.
He would not necessarily arrive as an automatic first-team starter.
Benjamin Sesko remains United’s primary striker, but Tresoldi could provide valuable competition while offering manager Carrick another forward with significant long-term potential.
The transfer fee remains the primary concern.
Paying more than £40m for a player with limited Premier League experience would carry inherent risk, particularly when United have other positions requiring reinforcement.
However, the scouting mission demonstrates that the club is conducting its due diligence early.
