Manchester United are preparing a formal move for Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell.
The Red Devils were linked with securing a new left-back this summer, but failed to identify a viable option before the transfer deadline. Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall emerged as a primary target for the club, yet the youngster was not available for transfer at any cost. Hall has since committed to a long-term contract at Newcastle without a release clause and has expressed his intention to remain with the Magpies for several seasons.
United are now reportedly shifting focus to Mitchell, whom they believe could be acquired at a relatively low cost during the January transfer window. The 27-year-old’s contract with Crystal Palace expires in June 2027, and the Championship side has yet to convince him to extend his deal. Should negotiations stall into the new year, Manchester United may opportunity to secure the English defender for approximately £20 million. A comparable fee was recently paid by Manchester City for Marc Guehi after the latter entered the final six months of his contract at Palace.
