Manchester United are pushing to land the signature of Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde before the transfer window closes on September 1.
The Red Devils began the new league season with a disappointing loss, succumbing to a 2‑0 defeat against newly promoted Hull City on the road.
Luke Shaw struggled again at left‑back, prompting speculation that United may look to recruit a more formidable competitor for the position.
Balde has emerged as a potential target, and reports indicate that United have already contacted his agent, Jorge Mendes, regarding a transfer.
Although Balde is currently happy staying with the Spanish champions, he might consider a move if Barcelona decide to put him up for transfer.
Barcelona have not publicly disclosed a price for the La Masia graduate, though they are reportedly aiming for a fee of approximately £43 million.
United are also monitoring Racing Santander prospect Jorge Salinas, who has a release clause of just £13.4 million in his current contract.
