Manchester United Target Left-Back Strengthening Ahead of January Window
The Red Devils were linked with a new left-back last summer but could not secure a deal before the deadline.
Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall was on United’s radar, but the Magpies made it clear he was not for sale. Hall has since signed a new long-term contract with the club without a release clause, suggesting he could remain for many seasons.
Club Brugge’s Joaquin Sey was another prominent target for United, but the Belgian champions opted against selling him. Brugge have indicated they may entertain offers at the end of the current campaign, though United could test their resolve at the start of 2027.
Sey was valued at approximately £30 million last summer, and it may take a higher fee to prise him away midway through the season.
Currently, United have Luke Shaw (injured) and Patrick Dorgu as left-back choices, but the latter could leave when his contract expires next June.
