Manny Pacquiao Shifts Focus to New Fights as Mayweather Rematch Remains Uncertain

Manny Pacquiao’s 2026 boxing schedule has been adjusted following the indefinite postponement of his long-awaited rematch with Floyd Mayweather.

The eight-division champion returned to the ring in 2023, securing a draw against then-WBC welterweight titleholder Mario Barrios. Pacquiao has consistently maintained his retirement is not imminent, aiming instead for a series of marquee bouts to cap his illustrious career.

Negotiations for the much-discussed clash with the American boxing legend were delayed due to ongoing legal proceedings against Mayweather, temporarily derailing the anticipated showdown.

In response, Pacquiao’s promotional team is actively evaluating alternative opponents to ensure the Filipino boxing icon remains engaged in the sport until the Mayweather encounter can be finalized.

“We’re working on it. We’re looking at different options. We want to be very careful, of course – we are under contract at this time – but yes, we are working on trying to get an alternate fight or something in place for Manny at this moment. We want it to be the right opportunity with the right partners, and also so he has enough time for his camp against Floyd,”

Should Pacquiao pursue another attempt at becoming the oldest welterweight world champion—currently held by him—he would need to target top contenders like Devin Haney, Rolando Romero, Ryan Garcia, or Liam Paro.
