Marco Bezzecchi Shatters Record to Claim MotoGP Pole Position in Aragon

Marco Bezzecchi delivered a blistering performance at MotorLand Aragon on Saturday to claim pole position for the Michelin Grand Prix of Aragon, braking the all-time lap record in the process. Riding his Aprilia Racing RS-GP26, the Italian sensation posted a phenomenal time of 1:44.962 during Qualifying Two (Q2), setting a new benchmark around the 5.08 km circuit.

Reigning World Champion Marc Márquez put up a heroic challenge on his Ducati Team Lenovo Desmosedici GP26, clocking in a 1:45.051 to secure second place on the grid, just 0.089 seconds behind the polesitter. Alex Marquez completed the highly competitive front row, claiming third position with a 1:45.261 lap aboard his BK8 Gresini Racing Team Ducati Desmosedici GP26.

The second row of the grid is headlined by SuperFile Trackhouse’s Raúl Fernández, who posted a 1:45.375 to start from fourth. He is closely followed by Bezzecchi’s teammate, 2024 World Champion Jorge Martín (1:45.436), and Red Bull KTM’s Pedro Acosta, who remarkably secured sixth on the grid (1:45.555) despite suffering a crash at Turn 8 during his final flying lap.

In the opening Qualifying One (Q1) session, rookie sensation Diogo Moreira (Pro Honda LCR) and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) advanced to the high-stakes Q2 shootout. Bagnaia delivered a dominant final run to challenge the Brazilian teenager, while Joan Mir and Brad Binder missed out, setting the stage for the intense front-row battle.

With the grid locked in, all eyes turn to the Tissot Sprint at 15:00 local time. The record-breaking display by Bezzecchi and the Marquez brothers promises an explosive start to the Aragon Grand Prix weekend.
