Marie Bouzkova Claims Maiden Nottingham Open Singles Crown
Fourth-seeded Marie Bouzkova secured her inaugural singles title on grass at the Nottingham Open in the United Kingdom, defeating third-seeded Emma Navarro in a tightly contested final on Sunday. The Czech Republic’s Bouzkova emerged victorious with a score of 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-3.
Overcoming an ankle injury, Bouzkova delivered four powerful aces to clinch the match, which lasted nearly three hours.
This triumph marked Bouzkova’s fourth career singles title and her second of the season, following her win in April on the red clay in Bogota.
Navarro, who had 10 aces of her own, saved 10 of 14 break points in her losing effort.
