Leader of France’s National Rally, Marine Le Pen, has confirmed that she will run for the presidency in 2027.

Le Pen said she will pursue all legal avenues to contest her embezzlement conviction, which requires herე wearing an electronic tag for a year.

“I cannot campaign while wearing a tag,” the National Rally leader told French television, adding that she intends to challenge the ruling in court.

Earlier on the same day, a Paris appeal court found her guilty of misappropriating €2.8 million ($2.4 million) in European Union funds in a fabricated jobs scheme, but ruled that she may still stand for the presidency despite the tag.
