Marizanne Kapp, 36, will not join the Stars for WBBL 2026, having decided to prioritise her South Africa commitments. The Proteas begin a Test series against India on December 9, just four days after the WBBL final.
“We are, of course, disappointed to lose someone of Marizanne’s calibre this season,” Stars general manager James Rosengarten said. “She is one of the world’s finest all-rounders, but we understand her priorities at this stage and it gives us another opportunity to strengthen our list.”
Dani Jones and Amy Gibson both played for the Stars last season and have now committed to the competition’s 12th season. Jones was the side’s second-highest run-scorer in WBBL 2025, amassing 234 runs from 11 matches at a strike rate of 125.80. Gibson contributed 170 runs in the same number of games at 139.34 as the Stars were eliminated by the Perth Scorchers in the Knockout.“It was a priority for us to bring both Dani and Amy back this season, and we are delighted with the outcome,” Rosengarten said. “They offer a range of valuable skills in a format that rewards versatility.”

The Stars still have the opportunity to sign one further international player before the WBBL season begins.
