Marks & Spencer has presented the inaugural fashion show on Silverstone’s iconic pit lane, ahead of this weekend’s Formula 1 British Grand Prix.
The runway show featured 50 models strolling through the circuit’s working garages, presenting Marks & Spencer’s ‘Dress to Thrill’ summer collection amid Formula 1 cars and race‑day engineering.
The event is part of M&S’s multi‑year partnership with Silverstone, announced earlier this year, as the retailer seeks to bolster its presence at major sporting and cultural occasions. The collaboration covers Silverstone’s full calendar—Formula 1, MotoGP and CarFest—and includes a joint initiative with Atlassian Williams Racing.
Silverstone anticipates welcoming roughly 500,000 visitors during the British Grand Prix weekend, while Formula 1 draws a global audience exceeding 1.8 billion cumulative viewers, offering brands a platform to engage consumers outside traditional retail channels.
The “Dress to Thrill” collection comprises womenswear and menswear tailored for summer events, featuring monochrome tailoring, denim, swimwear‑inspired separates, lightweight outerwear, and select items from Marks & Spencer’s Autograph performance travel line, developed through its partnership with Atlassian Williams Racing.
Sharry Cramond, Marketing Director for Fashion, Home & Beauty at M&S, commented: “Staging fashion on the track in this manner—hosting the very first pit‑lane runway show—represents a bold move for us and illustrates how we’re appearing in fresh, unexpected ways at the UK’s premier events, delivering an experience unlike any before.”
The activation follows the retailer’s Ibiza fashion show in May, which debuted its “Summer of Love That” campaign, and mirrors a broader trend where fashion brands employ experiential runway shows to generate buzz and reach audiences beyond conventional catwalks. Earlier this year, Topshop staged what it described as the world’s first AI‑powered shoppable catwalk in Manchesteras brands continue to explore novel consumer experiences.
The “Dress to Thrill” collection is available both online and in‑store, with further pieces rolling out throughout the summer.
