Miami Marlins have recalled first baseman/outfielder Kyle Stowers from the 10‑day injured list as they prepare for a three‑game interleague series against the Boston Red Sox that begins Monday.
Stowers, 28, was placed on the IL on Aug. 11 with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain, retroactive to Aug. 10. The former All‑Star had been hitting .242 with 16 home runs and 52 RBIs in 94 games before his injury.
Stowers entered Monday’s lineup at first base, batting third. “I feel good … I feel more comfortable this time than I did last time,” he said, referencing his earlier IL stint for a right hamstring strain that delayed his season debut until April 19. “Mentally, this was my best (IL stint) this time. The last couple times, it was really hard mentally on me. This time I was really bummed, but I made it what it was. It was an injury, didn’t make it any deeper than it needed to be. I was a lot more clear‑headed this time with the injury. Just took it day by day. I think that was the biggest growth I’ve made so far.”
Selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the second round of the 2019 draft, Stowers played parts of three seasons with the Orioles (2022‑24) before joining the Marlins. In 328 games with Miami, he is batting .249 with 47 home runs and 160 RBIs.
In a corresponding move, the Marlins optioned third baseman Deyvison De Los Santos to Triple‑A Jacksonville. The 23‑year‑old debuted on March 29 and is currently 3‑for‑9 with a double.
Miami entered play Monday four games behind the San Diego Padres for the final National League wild‑card spot.
