During the closing segment of his Thursday evening monologue on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, host Jimmy Kimmel received an unusual delivery from UPS: a large horse and a foal.
“I didn’t order a horse!” Kimmel exclaimed to the UPS courier. “I certainly didn’t request either of these.”
The UPS employee, accompanied by a host assistant, brought the foal onto the stage. Suddenly the horse split open to reveal actor Matt Damon.
Damon, who is slated to star as Odysseus in Christopher Nolan’s forthcoming film “The Odyssey,” responded by mocking Kimmel.
“The horse is here, but there is no taking back. I did it, and I’m here, folks! I’ve journeyed far and wide through trials to bring this audience something better,” Damon quipped.
“What is this? This feels like trespassing, a repeat offense,” Kimmel replied.
“Your presence feels like a crime,” Damon returned.
When Kimmel asked how long Damon had been concealed within the horse, he simply responded, “Did the Knicks win?”
“What are you doing here?” Kimmel inquired.
“What does it look like? I’m on your show, promoting my new film, which releases July 17. The film is titled ‘The Odyssey’ and is adapted from a novel; I’m sure you’re unfamiliar,” Damon explained.
Kimmel retorted, “Did you film this specifically so you could sneak into the set disguised as a Trojan Horse? That is the most disappointing thing I’ve heard. What a loser.”
Damon countered, “No. I made this film to highlight the Trojan motif—it’s not meant as an interruption.”
