Howe, 48, is set to depart St James’ Park after nearly five years in charge. Appointed in November 2021 following Steve Bruce’s exit, he guided the club to their first domestic trophy in seven decades by winning the Carabao Cup in 2025.
Former RB Salzburg manager Jaissle, currently overseeing Saudi club Al-Ahli, is expected to take over the reins at Newcastle.
The 38-year-old German, a former centre-half, developed through Stuttgart’s youth academy before establishing his senior career at Hoffenheim from 2007 to 2014.
A Germany Under-21 international, Jaissle retired from playing at 25 due to injury. He transitioned to coaching as Brondby’s assistant manager from 2017 to 2019, then led RB Salzburg’s U18s before taking charge of Austrian second-tier side Liefering.
His promotion to Salzburg’s senior team in 2021 saw him replace Jesse Marsch, who later managed Leeds United and Canada’s national team. During his tenure, Jaissle secured two consecutive Austrian Bundesliga titles and one domestic cup.
He developed key players like Benjamin Sesko (Manchester United), Brenden Aaronson (Leeds United), and Karim Adeyemi (Barcelona) during his time at Salzburg.
After joining Al-Ahli in 2023, Jaissle led the Saudi side to back-to-back Asian Champions League titles in 2025 and 2026, achievements likely drawing Newcastle’s Saudi ownership attention following Howe’s departure.
