Falkirk manager John McGlynn has sharply criticized Dundee United, stating the club should be “embarrassed” by the offers they have tabled for midfielder Brad Spencer.
McGlynn confirmed that Falkirk has turned down three separate bids from the Scottish Premiership side for the 30-year-old, who has nearly two years remaining on his current contract, with an option to extend for an additional 12 months.
While the offers have been reported to reach six figures, McGlynn insists they fall well short of his valuation of the player.
“We have continuously told them for some time now that Brad’s not for sale,” McGlynn said. “I don’t think it would matter if Dundee United came back with another offer, they are miles off, embarrassing.”
He continued: “I know the person who wrote them, and he must have been embarrassed when drafting these offers. You simply wouldn’t want your best player leaving for one of your direct competitors while he is still under contract, and Brad has at least another couple of years left, so they are kidding themselves on.”
Adding a final note on the club’s stance, McGlynn said: “From a football perspective, we are making it clear that Brad will be staying with us. He is under contract, and unless the board approves a deal, they are not going to accept these terms.”
