Tokyo-listed Bitcoin holder Metaplanet has dismissed claims of a significant Bitcoin liquidation. Company CEO Simon Gerovich clarified that the recent large transfer of 5,014 BTC—valued at $320 million—between Metaplanet’s custodial wallets was a standard custody procedure, not a sale.

According to Gerovich, “No Bitcoin was sold, and our total holdings remain at 43,000 BTC,” confirming the transaction was purely administrative. Blockchain analytics firms had flagged the movement on Wednesday, prompting speculation that Metaplanet was exiting its position. This follows increased scrutiny of corporate Bitcoin treasuries, particularly Strategy, which has recently sold portions of its holdings to fund dividends, share buybacks, and maintain cash reserves.
