Miami Brothers Arrested Amid International Extradition Request
The US Marshals Service took Andrew and Tristan Tate into custody in Miami on a sealed warrant, as British authorities pursue extradition over sexual assault and trafficking allegations.
UK prosecutors announced Saturday that the brothers face charges of rape and sex trafficking between 2010 and 2017, echoing earlier accusations in Romania that halted due to procedural irregularities.
The dual US‑UK citizens had previously been detained in Romania in 2022 on similar counts, but the case collapsed. They are scheduled to appear in a Miami federal court early next week, according to a source familiar with the operation.
Attorney Joseph McBride, who has not yet spoken with his clients, called the new UK charges “filth and slander” intended to undermine defamation suits the brothers filed in the United States. He expressed confidence that the men will be exonerated and warned that “America does not do Britain’s political dirty work.”
Andrew Tate, 39, first entered mainstream view as a contestant on the UK reality show “Big Brother” in 2016, before being removed after a video allegedly showing assault surfaced. Both brothers are vocal supporters of former President Donald Trump.
Andrew Tate maintains a massive social‑media footprint with over ten million X followers, yet he has been banned from YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram for violating hate‑speech guidelines. His commentary—including victim‑blaming statements about sexual assault, graphic sexual descriptions, and criticism of mental‑health treatment—has drawn widespread condemnation.
The brothers consistently deny all abuse and trafficking allegations, asserting that their provocative remarks are taken out of context or meant as satire.
